Condolences to World Champion Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi on the loss of her incredible homebred mare Ima Famous Babe, 2013 - 2022
Jarring news on the passing of two-time World Champion barrel racer Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi’s Ima Famous Babe (Dash Ta Fame x Streakin Six Babe x Streakin Six), affectionately known as “Katniss,” has shocked and saddened the barrel racing community. Hallmarks of the great mare’s performances were her undeniable heart, grit and fearless style of running. Our thoughts and prayers are with Katniss’ owner, breeder, and trainer Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi and her entire family at this very difficult time.
Known throughout the rodeo industry for her indomitable spirit and speed, Katniss gifted barrel racing fans with unforgettable performances. Below are a few of ours.
- Courageous comebacks were a hallmark of the mare’s brilliant career. Case in point, after more than five months off Pozzi Tonozzi announced Katniss’ 2021 comeback with a third-place finish in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Finals card holders race aggregate after winning second in the final round with a 15.626.
- The team then embarked on to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the 8-year-old mare ran in seven rounds, earning north of $44,000 to push her lifetime earnings over $400,000.

- Katniss and Pozzi Tonozzi swept second place across the board at 2022 Rodeo Austin for a huge $15,545 payday, which helped propel Pozzi Tonozzi into the top five of the WPRA World standings in pursuit of her 16th NFR qualification.
- In the winter of 2020 the mare won big in San Angelo and took three checks in her bracket at San Antonio then got sore. The WPRA Derby Championship in Waco, Texas, in November of 2020 marked Katniss’ first run in three months according to a post on Pozzi Tonozzi’s Facebook page following her emotional victory.
