Signaling the end of the winter building run, San Angelo Rodeo nears a close with hot runs as barrel racers gear up for warmer temps and upcoming outdoor rodeos.

The $45,000-added San Angelo Rodeo barrel racing got underway with slack on Monday, March 28, and upon completion of the 10th performance on April 14, the field is set for a thrilling finale featuring the top 12 (plus ties) on April 15 at 7:30 pm. Round one of the barrel race took place at 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena while the Progressive round for the top 120 consisted of qualifiers running in 10 performances from slowest to fastest with a random draw in each performance held in the Foster Communications Coliseum.

Tune into the Cowboy Channel for live rodeo coverage beginning with the pre-show on April 15 at 8 pm EST to watch the top 12 contestants vie for the title of San Angelo Rodeo champion.

Performance Toppers

Whitney Davison topped the first performance on April 1 with a 14.85.
Michelle Alley’s 14.16 in the second performance was second in round 2 for $4,948.

A 14.21 put Kailee Murdock on top in the third performance.

Jennifer Driver posted a 14.35 to top perf five.
Past NFR qualifier Chani (Payne) Graves was the fastest in the sixth rodeo performance and placed third overall in round two with her 14.19.
Defending Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Champion Jordon Briggs and Famous Lil Jet were fastest in the seventh performance at 14.28 and are seventh in the aggregate with their 29.99.

Four-time WPRA World Champion Sherry Cervi and MP Burning It Up topped the eighth perf with a time of 14.30.

The American winners Shelley Morgan and HR FameKissAndTell continue their hot streak with a perf-topping 14.31 on April 13.
Turquoise Circuit Champion Shannon McReynolds and her gray mare Minie Gun moved to the lead in round 2 with a 14.12 in the 10th performance. McReynolds shares the lead in the aggregate with Rule going into the Finals.
